"on the air!"
A: This is one of my hobbies. I develop and maintain web sites because I enjoy it -- not to make money. I ask my clients to reimburse my expenses when the web site is put on the air and made available to the public.
Q: What expenses?
A: If I obtain (register) a domain name for you (example: www.mycompany.com), it costs me approximately $10 (usually less) per year. Web hosting services are also required. Usually, these services are less than $50 per year. Labor, software, and perseverance: No charge (it's a hobby).
Q: How long will it take to create a web site?
A: It depends on the client. Usually, I can get a site up and running in a week or less. I depend on the client to provide basic information on their products and services. I also need the client's feedback on what the web site should look like (e.g., colors, fonts, wording).
Q: I want to sell my products online. Can you build a "shopping cart" type web site that allows a customer to purchase my products online with a credit card?
A: No, I choose not to build this type of web site. To build a decent "shopping cart" web site requires a lot of effort. In addition, the client has to provide a lot of information (products, sizes, colors, prices, discounts, and a lot more). The client also has to figure out shipping, return, and privacy policies. There is also a matter of liability (you're accepting credit card information). Suggestion: Consider eBay!
Q: Can I have pictures on my web site?
A: Yes, by all means. Web sites are a visual media. I can use your pictures or visit your location and take my own.
Q: Who makes changes to the web site?
A: I make all the updates. The client calls or emails me with the requested changes, and I try my best to make the updates the same day. Again -- no charge for web site maintenance (it's a hobby!).
